New Year's Resolutions

I can't tell you how many times last week that I heard the media talking about resolutions we make for the new year, and also the tremendous hype about "code orange." It got me thinking... did we not learn a lesson after September 11 to do what WE really want to do in our lives? To find our passion? Find our path? Find our humor and "recapture" our childhood (not immature) attitudes, hopes and dreams again? Did we already forget how it felt to SUDDENLY, out of the blue, feel that the world was coming to an end? We talk about diet resolutions and exercise, which is all well and good, of course, but what makes us really HAPPY during our short lives here on the earth plane? Stress makes us sick, happiness makes us healthier beings. What were our passions and things we loved when growing up, and did we forget about them in the maturing stages of our lives because we had people telling us to "grow up and get out of the fantasy world?" I was strongly reminded just last night about how quickly our physical lives here on earth can come to an end. We were just - maybe - 8 seconds from being involved in a horrid car accident. While coming up to an intersection going normal speed, we watched and were stunned as a car FLEW from our right to our left, right through the very same intersection we were approaching, and right through their red light. No thought whatsoever. I started thinking, "if I hadn't gotten stuck behind those slow people leaving the restaurant, or if my son hadn't taken one more trip through the revolving doors, or I hadn't sat for a second at the table to finish the water in my glass before getting up... that would be those 8 seconds, and that car flying by would have been intercepted by a family coming home from dinner - US." So, I thanked God and our angels and guides and everyone helping us NOT to have been in the middle of that intersection at that exact time, and made a decision about something I had been working on this week anyway. Remembering WHY we're here and to not waste the bodies or time we are given by being unhealthy or unhappy, etc. I feel very blessed to be happy, but my body this year is going to be MUCH healthier! :)

We are given our bodies to do things FOR people, FOR society, FOR our loved ones, and FOR OURSELVES and OUR SOULS (which comes from doing things for others and ourselves!). What is it exactly that makes us happy? What are we LEARNING from the experiences we've already had - good or bad? Are we supposed to drive daily to our 9 - 5 job if we truly hate it, just to pay our bills? That seems to be what society expects of us, but is that why we're really here? What then, would it mean if we found, or decided to finally do, what we LOVE and are passionate about, even if it meant taking a paycut. Couldn't we cut back on some things we don't need in our lives, so that we don't stress about money, yet are much happier in our work and jobs? Imagine if you felt passion about your job or career. How would your stress level change? How much healthier would you be and feel? How would your outlook on life change? What if you also started doing other things (besides work, like a hobby) that makes you happy and passionate about life? I feel so fortunate that I found and realized my career as a spirit medium, and while I almost lost a few friends because of it, I knew that it made ME really happy and was not only helping my clients, but their spirit people and myself as well. So, for me, besides my wonderful family and being a mom, my "hobby" and that which makes me happy IS my work, and for that, I feel very blessed.

So what is it that makes YOU happy? Can you make your hobby or passion in life your job or career? If you're passionate about your job, pat yourself on the back right now.. go ahead, do it... right now! You've done well! Now, what else would make you happy? Taking an art class or doing yoga? Getting together with your friends more often? Adopting an animal, OR even a child? Learning to ride a motorcycle? Think for a second - and without stressing yourself out time-wise, what kind of things can you add to your life that will make you passionate about life this year? What did you want to BE when you were little? Magic? Add some magic to your life! A singing star? Go to karaoke once or twice a month. A chef? Take cooking lessons! Is there a way you can incorporate some lost passions without stressing yourself out time-wise?

The point I'm trying (trying!) to make is that we have a small window of time here on the earth plane, and we're given a body/vessel do work with. What can you do with yours that helps your soul and also the souls of others? We all have a purpose and that purpose is to do what really and truly makes us happy... what we love to do and feel pulled to do. We need to try to make the best use of our time here, and yes, the "typical" eating healthy and exercising resolution is SUCH a HUGE part of maintaining our bodily vessel... so yes, work on that resolution if it's one of yours for this year! If you already know your purpose and love your life as it is, again, pat yourself on the back, but also try to create more quiet time for yourself, create exercising time, create doing something just for YOU time, and be realistic in your goals, so that you won't get frustrated and stop. Take baby steps and work up to having a healthier, and HAPPIER year this year than last year! We can always learn more and be even happier. Take this reflection time to see we are only here for a moment in time, so ENJOY IT and make the best of it for your own soul and even the souls of others!
